"The 'TEACH PEACE' Project" Language Resources

I do use a number of various translators and programs to help me learn and share ideas, and these are some of those programs and online resources that I find particularly informative and supportive of my goals. To some I have noted special thanks for their wonderful kindness and supportive help in helping me aquire some of the programs I use to TEACH PEACE.

Turkish: I am finding great passion in my quest to learn Turkish. I have about 5 or 6 individual friends with whom I communicate with regularly, and I find this language the most challenging so far of those I am trying to learn.

One of the languages translated by the BABYLON6 translator, which is language product from www.babylon.com. Also there are a number of Turkish online tutorials, lessons, and dictionaries. Some of which are www.turkishdictionary.com, www.turkishclass.com, www.onlineturkish.com and others which I will add soon.

French: One of the languages translated by the BABELFISH translator, which is an online free access product from www.AltaVista.com I started learning French while in high school, and it has always been a passion for me. Since it is my most lengthy subject of study, I have the most materials available for learning. I have at least a dozen different books, some videos, some computer programs, and audio tapes. Included amongst these are TRANSPARENT LANGUAGE series, BERLITZ, BARRONS, and others.

German: One of the languages translated by the BABELFISH translator, which is an online free access product from www.AltaVista.com

Swabian: A dialect of German which differs mostly in spelling of words. An online translator specifically dedicated to the Swabian langauge can be found at www.schwaebisch-englisch.de

Hebrew: One of the languages translated by the BABYLON6 translator, which is language product from www.babylon.com

Spanish: One of the languages translated by the BABELFISH translator, which is an online free access product from www.AltaVista.com

Dutch: Not a lot of online resources for this one. I did find a website called LOOKWAYUP which is found at http://lookwayup.com/free/EnglishDutchDictionary.htm

Swedish: The only resource I have for this so far, is the WORLDLINGO multi-language translator listed below.

American Sign Language: Resources Information will be posted as soon!

Various Multi-language Resources: Some good, some mediocre, some single word only, a few that will translate whole sentences, and the languages available vary from online service to online service. Here are a few that I have discovered:

BABYLON6: this program can be found at www.babylon.com and provides translations and definitions for 17 major languages; it also has available for download some other language dictionaries (including Klingon, and Vulcan amongst others), glossaries (some engineering and business terms and other such lists), and general reference modules (world capitols, government offices, and lots more) submitted by individual users of the BABYLON6 product. The capability of being able to create and share your own creative glossary files makes for the ability to share information with ease. There are a number of multi-translating online services as well. BABYLON6 is capable of back and forth translating for the following languages: English, Chinese traditional, Chinese Simplified, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Polish, Ukranian, Farsi, Turkish, Hebrew, and Arabic.

BABELFISH: the online translation service by DEC computers; part of the babelfish.altavista.com search engine. It is one of the oldest and best search engines... especially since it is not flooded with advertisements like a lot of other online translators). BABELFISH is capable of back and forth translating for the following languages: English, Chinese traditional, Chinese Simplified, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Korean. I have been using ALTAVISTA.com for many years as my primary search engine, and I proudly add their translator link (Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish) at the bottom of every page on this DMTMIND website.

WORLDLINGO: This online translator is located at www1.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html and is capable of back and forth translating for the following languages: English, Chinese traditional, Chinese Simplified, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Swedish, and Arabic. I tend to still use BABELFISH for the common languages and use this one for the Swedish and Arabic translations.

LOOKWAYUP: This online translator is located at http://lookwayup.com/free/ and is capable of back and forth translating for the following languages: English, Dutch, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.

Contributors to "The 'TEACH PEACE' Project":
I would like to thank PracticalTurkish.com, for their language package and the help that they have given to my goal. Their website; 'Learning Practical Turkish' is at www.practicalturkish.com and it is filled with many various articles and learning aids. A lot of their teaching material is freely available on thier website, but their official language package is available for purchase and does not contain the advertisement content that is found on their website. For those wanting to learn turkish, this is a great place to start, and I highly recommend buying their downloadable product for increased at-home learning. Special thanks to Jim and Peri! :)
